Penerapan model problem based learning untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan self confidence pada materi persamaan linear satu variabel siswa SMP

Based on preliminary research, students’ mathematical problem-solving ability is very low. This causes low confidence of students to be active during learning. While the ability to solve mathematical problems is an important part of learning mathematics as well as will increase students’ confidence in solving mathematical problems. Therefore, to develop mathematical problem solving skills, innovative learning models are neede that are able to improve mathematical problem solving skills. The learning model used to improve mathematical problem solving skills is the problem based learning model. This study aims to describe students’ problem-solving abilities in terms of mathematical abilities in the One Variable Linear Equation (PLSV) material using the problem based learning model. This research method is qualitative research. The subjects of this study were 30 students of grade VII-H SMP Negeri 2 Cimahi consisting of 15 women and 15 men. Data collection using tests and questionnaires. The instruments used are test questions, questionnaires, and interviews. The learning outcomes of students in this study obtained data and drew conclusions that the application of the problem based learning method increased the mathematical problem solving ability and self-confidence of grade VII-H students of Cimahi State Junior High School.
